The FBI tests a virus developed by
aliens in a little town. But what looks like a simple experiment,
begins to
transform people into killer zombies. The
FBI decides to isolate the town from the rest of the world. But
this is a decision
that the few survivors will not accept. Now wrestler John West,
medical student Bill Johnson and computer nerd Max Giggs will
try to find a map that contains the only
exit from town. On their way, they will have to fight against
thousands of zombies
and discover the connection between the aliens and the undead.
After the success of Plaga Zombie, the original crew decides to
make a sequel which at the same time could be a
movie shown independently of Plaga Zombie. By this way, the people
that hadn’t seen the first one could enjoy the sequel
although they hadn’t seen the original. After three years of
arduous work, and with the enthusiastic support of hundreds of
friends and extras, they could finish ZONA MUTANTE.
The movie opened at COSMOS CINEMA, Buenos Aires, in December 2001.
The film was such a success that its
premiere at the Cosmos Theater was a sell
out event, even when the country was passing through one of its
worst
economic crisis. In 2002, Zona Mutante participated in several
festivals around the world such as FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL
DE CINEMA DE CATALUNYA (Sitges, Spain), MOSTRA DE VALENCIA (Spain),
LA SEMANA DE TERROR DE SAN SEBASTIÁN (Spain),
SOBRAS FILM FESTIVAL (Chile) and BRUSSELS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
OF FANTASY FILM (Brussels, Belgium).
In January 2003, the movie reopened at the MUSEO DE ARTE
LATINOAMERICANO DE BUENOS AIRES (MALBA)
and it was also showed in FANTASIA (Canada).
